Why is there no HD (1280×720) option for some videos?
YouTube only generates the maxresdefault (HD) thumbnail for videos uploaded in sufficient quality. Older or low-resolution uploads simply don't have one — the tool detects this and hides unavailable sizes instead of showing broken images.
Does this work for YouTube Shorts thumbnails?
Yes. Paste the Shorts URL (youtube.com/shorts/...) and the tool resolves it to the same video ID YouTube uses internally, so all stored thumbnail sizes are available.
Can I legally use someone else's thumbnail?

The download button opened a new tab instead of saving — why?
